Tennis Lesson: Forehand Step 3 – Swing to Contact

FYB2007 Said:

www.fuzzyyellowballs.com The third step of the forehand is the forward swing to contact. When learning how to hit a forehand, it’s very important to keep things simple and that’s what we’ve tried to do in this video. From the completion of your preparation, the tennis racket drops down and swings forward. At the same time, push off your back foot and rotate your body back toward the net. Moving your body when you’re a tennis player becomes natural. Trying to communicate how you do it to someone else becomes much tougher. You do a great job of explaining how to progress through a shot.

This video really helped me get a feel for where the power is supposed to come from in your shot, its all in the rotation.

  • xhyugunx says:

sorry, but i don’t know ‘because i didn’t know much about strings so i asked the person at the tennis store to choose strings that offer a good mix of power and control, they cost about 40-50$ they’re babolot

  • b0oMeR says:

Yea the pure storm is a great advanced player’s racquet. May i ask what strings you use?

The pure storm is a fairly heavy racquet, i think its almost 11oz so not many racquets are heavier.

  • xhyugunx says:

thanks for the comment, i had a friend tell me that more advanced players prefer heavier racquet’s would you recommend the pure storm for a more advanced player?

  • b0oMeR says:

    Nothing is “too light”
It all depends on you and how you like it.
The pure storm’s weight is fine if you find it too light, it isnt 100% from the static weight but where the balance is.
Try getting a more Head light racquet if you desire a heavier feel.

  • xhyugunx says:

omg this amazing! i use a pure storm, would you say that’s too light?

  • liampimp12341234 says:

was it because it was heavy? maybe ur contact point was messed up because of the wieght

  • STRESSYN1 says:

What k-six one version is that racquet? K 95?
I got TE from bad swing technique with this racquet.
    Another great video from FYB.

Although it does seem like it, he’s not wearing a women’s skirt. Lol They’re shorts, but the white blend with the sunlight and it looks like a skirt.

    thanks for uploading the video

  • Morias says:

Great video, I’m about to help my friend learn to play tennis, so this gives me a great talking points to instruct him on.

By the way, what’s up with the woman’s skirt?

  • FinalFan0 says:

I applied this technique to my game and it’s made me SO much better! Although, he’s not going into full detail of why you need to hit like that… but it’s a really good hitting style when you play someone who likes to send you from corner to corner in ground strokes.

I’d hit slightly in front for a more manageable angle shot.

    Hi,
This is a very good video .I was recently watching the tennis guru on the modern forehand and he says the contact point on the modern forehand is at your side to maximise the acceleration instead of infront of you. You ‘re saying the contact point is in front of your body.
    Thanks
